Remove a PDF password

Open a password-protected PDF with the password you know and save a copy without it.

How it works

  1. Add the protected PDF.
  2. Type its password.
  3. Press Remove the password.
  4. Download the unlocked copy.

What this does and does not do

You give the tool the password and it saves a copy without one. It does not guess, crack or bypass passwords, so a PDF you do not have the password for cannot be opened here.

  • The original file is not changed. You get a new copy.
  • A wrong password is reported, and nothing is saved.
  • Once the password is gone you can use any tool on the file, such as Edit PDF or Merge PDF.

Good to know

  • You need the password. This tool does not guess or crack passwords, and cannot open a PDF whose password you do not have.
  • It removes the password from a copy. The original file is not changed.
