Fill in a PDF form
Fill in the text boxes, tick boxes, radio buttons and drop-down lists of a PDF form on the page, then download it.
How it works
- Add the PDF form. Its fill-in fields appear as blue boxes on the page.
- Click a field and type, tick it or choose from the list.
- If you want to stop anyone changing your answers, tick the box to lock the fields.
- Press Finish and download.
If the PDF has no fill-in fields
Some PDFs look like forms but are only a picture of one, for example a scan. The editor tells you when it finds no fields. You can still complete it: use the Text tool to type anywhere on the page, the Tick tool for tick boxes, and the Sign tool for your signature. This is covered in Edit PDF.
Locking the answers
A filled form can still be changed by whoever opens it. Tick "Lock the filled-in fields" and your answers become part of the page, so they can't be edited. Do this last, because a locked form can no longer be filled in again.
Which forms work
- Forms made with the common PDF form standard (AcroForm): text boxes, multi-line boxes, tick boxes, radio buttons and drop-down lists.
- Not supported: forms built on XFA, an older Adobe format, and password-protected PDFs. The page tells you if yours is one of them.
- Signature boxes are shown but not filled in. Use the Sign tool to place a picture of your signature.
Good to know
- Only the form's own fields can be filled in. A PDF with no fields can still be typed on with the Text tool.
- Signature boxes and buttons are shown but not filled; use the Sign tool for a signature.
- Forms built on XFA (an older Adobe format) and password-protected PDFs are not supported.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it free to fill in a PDF form here?
- Yes. There is no account and no watermark.
- Is my form uploaded?
- No. Everything, including your answers, stays in your browser.
- Why can't I click anything on my PDF?
- It probably has no fill-in fields, like a scan. Use the Text tool to type on the page instead.
- Will the answers show in other PDF readers?
- Yes. The answers are saved into the fields and drawn on the page. Lock the fields if you want them to be fixed.
- Can I fill in the same form again later?
- Yes, if you did not lock the fields. Open the downloaded file here again and change the answers.
- Can I sign the form too?
- Yes. Choose Edit PDF's Sign tool, or use Sign PDF, to place your signature on the page.
