United States: photo and document formats
USCIS upload limits and US Letter paper. Photo presets pending verification.
Passport and ID photo requirements
No verified photo presets for United States yet.
travel.state.gov blocked our automated checks. We could only see the US passport and visa photo requirements through summaries and search excerpts of the State Department pages, which is not enough to publish a preset. Until a person has read the full pages, we offer no US photo preset. Read the official page for your application before you print or upload.
Paper size and PDFs
Upload portal limits
Portals change limits without notice. Confirm the figure shown in your own application before you upload.
Tips
- US forms and portals are built around Letter paper. If you merge scans into a PDF for a US recipient, choose Letter.
- Keep uploads unencrypted: USCIS rejects password-protected files.
What GetFormatted offers for United States
Everything runs in your browser, so your photos and documents are not uploaded. We cannot promise any authority will accept a file. Check the result against the official page before you submit.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is there no US passport photo preset?
- We only publish a preset when we have read the official requirement ourselves. The State Department site blocked our automated check, so we have left it out rather than guess.
- What is the USCIS upload size limit?
- The USCIS tips page says files must not be larger than 12 MB, in PDF, JPG or JPEG (TIF/TIFF for some forms).
