How we verify photo and upload requirements

A wrong photo size can cost an applicant a fee or a delay, so we treat requirements as facts to be sourced, not as folklore.

• Official pages only. A preset is published only after we read the government or agency page that states it.
• Dated. Every rule shows the date we checked it and a date after which it must be reviewed. An out-of-date rule stops being offered.
• Print and upload are separate. So are adult and child, and passport and visa. We never infer one from another.
• Gaps are stated. When a page blocked our check or does not state a number, the country page says so instead of filling it in.
• No approval claims. GetFormatted is not affiliated with any government, and we do not certify that a photo will be accepted.

Where the limits of our knowledge are

• Some portal limits come from an excerpt of an official page that we could not open in full. Those figures carry a label on the country page.
• Default paper sizes by country come from the Unicode CLDR locale data and Microsoft documentation, not from a government.
