Batch compress images to a target size
Compress many JPEG or WebP images toward a maximum size in KB, with a different target for any file, and download a ZIP of the ones that met their limit.
How it works
- Add two or more JPEG or WebP images. Each one gets its own row.
- Type a shared target in KB or pick a quick target, or tick "Use a different target for this file" on any image with its own limit.
- Compress. Each row says whether that file met its limit, and by how much it missed if not. Download files one at a time, or a ZIP of the ones that met their limit.
Good to know
- Each result is judged on the finished file's own bytes, pixel size and format, read back after encoding. A file that cannot reach its target is shown as missed with the number of bytes over, and is never padded or presented as done.
- The ZIP holds only the files that met their own limit. A missed file can still be downloaded on its own as the closest result, clearly labelled as over the limit.
- By default every image keeps its pixel size and only the JPEG or WebP quality is searched. Allowing fewer pixels is a shared switch and applies to every file.
- JPEG and WebP only, and each file keeps its own format. Convert a PNG first. There is no minimum-size, maximum-pixel or format option here; use the single-image tool for those.
- A small target on a detailed photo can look poor. The target is a maximum, not a quality guarantee, so check the images before uploading them.
- Each image is still capped at 50 MB and 60 megapixels; there is no separate limit on how many files you add, but each file is searched with many encodes, so large batches take noticeably longer, especially on a phone.
Frequently asked questions
- What happens if an image can't reach the target?
- It's shown as missed, with how many bytes it is over the limit, and it is left out of the ZIP. You can still download the closest result on its own, but it is labelled as over the limit. Allow fewer pixels, or raise that file's target, and run again.
- Can each image have a different size limit?
- Yes. Turn on "Use a different target for this file" on any row to give it its own limit instead of the shared one.
- Does it change the pixel size?
- Not by default. Only the JPEG or WebP quality is searched, so every image keeps its dimensions. There is a switch to allow fewer pixels if quality alone can't reach a target.
- Can it compress PNG files?
- Not directly. Convert PNG files to JPEG first with Batch convert images, then compress them.
