Crop PDF pages

Trim margins from every page, odd or even pages, or pages you choose, with a shaded preview of what will be cut off. Millimetre margins are measured from the page as you see it.

How it works

  1. Add the PDF. Every page appears as a thumbnail.
  2. Choose which pages to crop, then type the millimetres to remove from the top, right, bottom and left. The shaded bands show what will be cut off.
  3. Crop. The result is reopened and each page's crop box checked against your margins before the download appears.

What cropping does to the file

  • It sets each chosen page's crop box, the area programs show and print. With the page-size option on it also sets the page size to that area, because some programs ignore the crop box.
  • Edges are as you see the page, so Top is the top of the page as it appears even when the file stores the page turned.
  • It hides the outside area; it does not delete it. The cropped-away text and images stay inside the file, and a program that ignores the crop can still reveal them. Do not use it to hide private information.
  • Pages you did not choose are copied unchanged. A margin that would leave less than 10 mm of a page is refused.
  • Margins are typed in millimetres. You cannot drag a crop rectangle yet, and margins are not detected automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping remove the content I cut off?
No. It hides it. The cropped-away content stays in the file, and a program that ignores the crop can still show it. Do not rely on cropping to hide private information.
Is the file uploaded?
No. The file is read and rewritten in your browser, and no request carries it. Your original file is never changed.
Why is there a page-size option?
Some programs and upload portals look at the page size and ignore the crop box, so they show the uncropped page. With the option on, both are set to the cropped area so the programs agree.
Can I crop only some pages?
Yes. Choose all pages, odd pages, even pages, or type a list such as 1-3, 7. Pages you leave out are copied unchanged.
What if my pages are turned or scanned sideways?
Margins are measured from the page as you see it, not as it is stored, so the top you type is the top you see.
How do I know the result is right?
After cropping, the tool reopens the new PDF and compares every page's crop box with your margins, and checks the page count. The download only appears if those checks pass. Only small generated files have been measured, so look at the result before you send it.
